The 11th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge (https://energyboatchallenge.com/) is set to take place 1-6 July 2024 organised by Yacht Club de Monaco in partnership with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. Organised by YCM every year for the last decade, this important meeting for alternative energies is part of the collective Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting approach.
Friday 7th July 2023. The third day of racing at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge was all about endurance. A three nautical mile course set out in Monaco’s bay was the perfect opportunity for the 40+ teams from 25 nations to see how many laps their boat could achieve in a set time. A treat for the public who crowded onto the stand set up on Quai Luciana.
The 4th Monaco Hydrogen Group Round Table took place on Friday 7th July during the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and Energy Transition Mission. The entire ecosystem - from public authorities and classification bodies to generator developers and engine manufacturers, naval architects and shipyards - came together with one objective to ensure hydrogen plays its rightful role in decarbonising the marine sector, whatever the solutions adopted, which are many!
The 50+ teams got down to business today with the first events of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. It was a packed day of sea trials, qualification heats and manoeuvrability tests. It was all about strategy for contestants in the Energy Class, Solar Class and Open Sea Class to score the most points while demonstrating their boats’ capabilities.
The theme of the conference on Thursday 6th July at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge was the ‘Sustainability Transition: Challenges, Engagement, Adoption’. Although issues relating to new solutions and green energies were the focus, panellists also analysed the impact of the whole ecosystem from R&D to design, development and building of boats, be they offshore race yachts, motorboats, pleasure craft or superyachts. A broad overview but with conclusions essential to the sector segments concerned.
The 10th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge kicked off Wednesday 5th July with a visit by HSH Prince Albert II. Supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Credit Suisse, BMW and SBM Offshore, the event has attracted involvement by big name shipyards such as Oceanco, Ferretti, Sanlorenzo, Lürssen, Monaco Marine and Palumbo SY Refit.
For ten years now, the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge organised by Yacht Club de Monaco has been establishing itself as the big meeting for alternative energy sources, honouring a long tradition that “Monaco has always been a mecca for yachting since 1904 when the Principality organised the first powerboat meetings,” as YCM General Secretary Bernard d’Alessandri recalls.
Just weeks to go before the start in the Principality of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, the largest meeting for alternative energy sources organised by Yacht Club de Monaco. Already 27 teams have completed their registrations in the Solar and Energy classes, categories composed mainly of engineering students.
