Sambuk Racing Team from Qatar University is developing an advanced electric catamaran that integrates innovative mechanical and electrical systems to enhance performance, safety, and sustainability. The team is designing an aerodynamic, lightweight cockpit to improve speed and efficiency, alongside an intuitive steering system for smoother pilot control, and a custom high-speed propeller optimised for the Rim Driven electric motor to achieve superior hydrodynamic performance. The project also incorporates solar energy integration for extended endurance, a collision avoidance system to enhance operational safety, and a solid-state battery for improved energy density, reliability, and sustainability. By combining expertise from both mechanical and electrical engineering, the team aims to push the boundaries of clean marine technology, contributing to the global transition toward sustainable and intelligent marine transportation.
