TEAM

ARKANA is a research team from the Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding program at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS). ARKANA conducts research in green and sustainable maritime technology through participation in national and international competitions, contributing to Indonesia’s Zero Emission target of 2050. Throughout its journey, ARKANA has won more than 20 awards, with its highest achievement being 2nd place in the Dr. James A. Lisnyk Student Ship Design Competition in 2025. To expand its impact, ARKANA ITS aims to further enhance their experience by competing in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge.

Project

This project focuses on the development of an energy efficient electric boat. The main innovation lies in optimising energy usage through real time power consumption monitoring, motor performance tuning at peak efficiency, and design optimisation to reduce movement resistance. Safety and sustainability are further enhanced through battery condition monitoring and the use of lightweight, environmentally friendly materials. The goal is to design and build an innovative and energy efficient boat that demonstrates the application of advanced engineering and clean energy technologies for sustainable maritime transportation. The project also aims to foster learning, creativity, and responsibility among students while meeting the technical standards of the MEBC and promoting future green maritime innovation.
