For over 120 years, SMEG has distributed electricity and natural gas in the Principality of Monaco. Its mission is also to maintain and operate all public lighting installations. Moreover, since 1987, SMEG has operated an energy plant that feeds a thermo-electric refrigerating plant. This provides heating and cooling to the urban network serving the Fontvieille district, by recovering energy from the waste recycling centre of its subsidiary Société Monégasque d’Assainissement (SMA). In an ongoing quest to improve the welfare and comfort of the Monegasque population by respecting the environment and in complete safety, SMEG accompanies the development of the Principality of Monaco in a sustainable way.
