Organised since 2014 by the Yacht Club de Monaco, in collaboration with the International Powerboating Federation (UIM) and Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Energy Boat Challenge is unique in the world.

Monaco is used to being at the cutting edge. More than a century ago, pioneers of another type of propulsion gathered in the Principality to present their latest engine developments at an annual meeting for motorboats.  The tradition is being revived as Monaco Energy Boat Challenge contestants have a chance to discuss their work on Open Source at Tech Talks normally held every evening.
