This year, the project focuses on advancing custom propulsion technology, system efficiency, and operational safety. The key innovation is a fully custom designed propulsion system comprising a high-speed BLDC motor, a custom contra-rotating propeller, and a lightweight carbon-fibre outboard structure. Unlike last year’s design, which relied on commercial outboard systems, the entire propulsion system is now developed using a patented approach, enabling improved performance control, integration, and weight optimisation. The contra-rotating propeller improves thrust efficiency, reduces torque losses, and enhances stability. For safety, a battery-critical haptic pilot awareness system provides tactile seat vibrations during critical battery conditions, complementing telemetry systems to improve pilot awareness.
